The story of our planned 2025 launch

In February 2025 we were granted a conditional code from Alberta Education to begin operations for 2025/26 school year. The last remaining unmet conditions centred on our planned school location, with the biggest hurdle being that the location meet the required municipal zoning requirements to house a school. Addressing these requirements was unfortunately held up by municipal administration issues.  Upon speaking with city councillors and city staff, we were assured the initial issues were addressed and we could move forward with the official rezoning process, with the chance that if everything went exceedingly smooth we could still potentially hit our timeline for a September 2025 start. However, after a lot of prayer and discussion, the board felt they could not, in good conscience, leave our future staff and students in limbo while an unfolding process that very reasonably had the potential to run past our start date ran it's course. From the start, we knew that everything about this school, was in God's hands, so we took this as sign that we needed to regroup and focus on clearing these hurdles over the winter to prepare for a 2026 launch.

Where things stand for a 2026 launch

The conditional Alberta Education code we received has expired since we were not able to clear all of our conditions. The board resubmitted our application in fall 2025 with full expectations it will be approved again with similar conditions, and rezoning should be settled by spring 2026. Please continue to pray that these obstacles would be cleared and we are able to realize our vision of King's Cross Academy opening it's doors for fall 2026.

Spreading the word and excitement

We have received great encouragement from other schools and homeschool organizations, and much interest from families and teachers. We will be hosting some events in the near future to bring awareness to the school and Classical Christian Education in general, so please make sure you are signed up for our newsletter and are following us on social media to get all the updates!

  • February 2026 - We will be hosting a Classical Christian Education information evening in February to raise awareness of King's Cross Academy, CCESA (Classical Christian Education Society of Alberta), and Classical Christian Education in general. For those who want more information on Classical Christian Education, or know someone who does, this is the place to learn more.

  • May 2026 - In December CCESA received a culture grant from the City of Red Deer and will be hosting a Classical Arts Symposium in May 2026. More details on this exciting event will be coming out shortly.

We are excited to see every obstacle cleared away and God’s kingdom continue to grow!

Soli Deo Gloria!
