Our Story

Recognizing the need for a brick-and-mortar school that upheld a rigorous, Classical, and distinctly Christian education, three families from City Chapel in Red Deer, AB, came together to pray and explore solutions. While homeschooling has provided many area families with a strong academic and spiritual foundation, no local school offered a Classical Christian education alternative. From this need the vision for King's Cross Academy emerged, and since that time we have been humbled to see how many doors the Lord has opened as we work to fully bring about this vision.

Classical education emphasizes the classical concept of paideia – the harmonious and integrated formation of citizens. An education at King’s Cross Academy will equip students for whatever calling, role, or mission God will place on their lives through the cultivation of knowledge, virtue, and wisdom and through the shaping of their affections.

King’s Cross staff, board members, and family, in connection with their local churches, enter into covenant to honour God above all else in all our dealings. Emphasizing the ultimate responsibility, given by God, of parents to educate their children, we support and complement parents’ work in raising their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Mindset
Christ is seated on his throne, “far above all rule and authority, power and dominion” (Eph.1:20-21). He has promised that “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” (Hab. 2:14). Therefore, we aim to be far-sighted, looking to Christ as He builds kingdom on the earth, following Him in obedience, and seeking His covenant blessings “to a thousand generations” (Deut. 7:9)
